Class Participation
We will have a number of discussions throughout the semester on the how and why of using technology in learning. You will be assessed on your participation in these discussions.
Article Review
You will be asked to read and review five articles. You will also be asked to present one of these articles in class. You will be assessed on your article reviews using this rubric.
Text Review
You will be asked to read, review, and critique a text of your choosing. The discussion of the text should be related to the use of technology in education. You will be assessed on your text review using this rubric.
Journal
You will be asked to keep a journal of your thoughts and feelings during this class. You will be assessed on your journal using this rubric.
Electronic Communication
We will be experimenting with a variety of electronic communication. You will be asked to participate in a listserv, on-line chat sessions, and a computer conference. You will be assessed on your journal using this rubric.
Expressing your personal philosophy
This assignment is designed to let you to think about and express your philosophy regarding how technology should or should not be used in the learning process. You will be assessed on your journal using this rubric.
Web page on an issue of your choosing
Part of this class will provide you with the skills to develop a web page. You will select an issue related to technology and learning and research that issue. Your web page will be the forum where you and your team will discuss your findings. You will be assessed on your journal using this rubric.
Converting Rubric Scores to Grades
Your rubric scores for each of the assignments above will be averaged for an overall rubric score. This score will be used to determine a letter grade using the scale below.
