I firmly believe that people will learn best what they want to learn. Therefore, the first class activity is to design a course that is meaningful to you. This includes deciding what issues we want to study. Later in the course we will also decide what types of projects you will participate and how you will be evaluated on those projects. As your guide, I do have some specific things I would like you to learn, however my only expectation coming into the class is that you will actively participate in class discussions and the projects we develop.
I also believe that developing and using Hypermedia in instruction is more of a philosophy than a set of skills. While you will develop the skills necessary to create learning materials for the World Wide Web, it is more important that you also develop and examine your reasoning for using technology in an instructional setting. Therefore, we will focus on both.
