Computer Viruses
________________________________________________________________

New computer viruses are appearing every day.  Some of these are not really viruses but virus hoaxes.  Many viruses can be stopped by exercising caution with email. For instance, do not open any attachment if you are not certain that it is a file you have been expecting. You can not rely on the fact that the sender of the email appears to be a trusted source. Viruses can spoof the sender of an email address so the email appears to be from someone you trust. See below for current information on the latest virus alerts and most frequent virus hoaxes.

The University of Arizona has a site license for Sophos.  If you are interested in protecting your office (or home) computer from viruses see, The University of Arizona Site License Site for details on acquiring and installing Sophos Anti-Virus.
